Why the name Alcedo Consulting?
Alcedo is the Latin name for Kingfisher, the brightly coloured bird with a long, sharp, pointed bill that live all over the world.
The name Alcedo was given to Catherine in her adolescent years as her scout’s name. This was because she was already very apt at being a cosmopolitan citizen of her community, befriending and belonging to a variety of groups from different ethnicities and with an array of interests and helping them thrive.
Alcedo Consulting aims to embrace that global citizen vibe, being aware and understanding of the wider business visions and diverse workforce and taking an active role in harnessing everyone’s voice to drive purposeful results today and into the future.
Catherine embodies the Kingfisher’s superpower of laser-sharp focus to catch the fish in the blink of an eye – through powerful questions, she quickly gets to the root cause of her clients’ problems and facilitates creative processes for them to get to purposeful actions that make a positive difference to workplace cultures and ultimately businesses bottom-lines.
What Catherine noticed from having worked for over two decades as a leader in big corporations was that there were many leaders out there who had the capacity and potential to be extraordinary. Yet experience had shown her that those leaders were not taking time to discover for themselves what their special strengths were and what future actions they wanted to take to influence, empower and inspire others.
Catherine wanted to turn that leadership potential into reality and set out to transform individuals and corporations through empowering self-discovery in one-on-one coaching and team workshop sessions and by equipping managers and teams to drive results through clear management practices.
To this day, Catherine is very intentional about the work she wants to do and the people she wants to do it with. Her mission is to enable those in charge of managing people to be extraordinary leaders who bring about team performance that benefits individuals, teams and corporations.
Catherine’s Story
Professional background
Catherine is a global citizen and a tri-lingual business leader with more than twenty years of experience in operations services, people & culture teams, and business improvement centres of excellence within financial services and utilities in Switzerland, England and Australia.
A significant component of her responsibilities has entailed establishing multi-disciplined teams and then leading and developing those teams to optimize core business and culture; designing strategies and delivering against state-wide business plans; and hitting performance as well as financial targets.
